Civil Attorney: Finding Representation In The Chicago Area
You’re quite lucky if you live in Chicago, or close enough to the city that you can easily travel there, as there are many civil attorneys you can choose from there. Chicago is, after all, a city which stands as a front-runner for civil rights.
One of the best places you can begin your hunt for a civil rights lawyer is on the Internet. By simply typing in Chicago civil rights attorney you will come up with a large selection of sites listing legal practices which handle civil rights cases.
You can also talk to the people you know. Family members, friends, colleagues, and even simple acquaintances: if any of them have had to make use of a Chicago civil rights lawyer, or know someone who has, they may be able to make recommendations. That way, you have firsthand knowledge of how a potential lawyer performs.
You need to get together a list of possible candidates. Then, you need to talk to those potential lawyers. You want to detail your case to see if they can handle it. You also want to see how to two of you seem to get along.
What is perhaps the most important item to consider is the lawyer’s credentials. You’ll want to ask a few questions to get a good idea about their level of experience, as well as their success rate, and maybe even their educational background. Ask to see a portfolio of past cases whose circumstance resembles that of your own. Pay attention to the win/lose ratio to get a good feel of where your case might lead.
For more information about Chicago civil rights lawyers, you can look online or visit your local library.

it is my understanding that the sheriff ordered his deputy not to apologize to the attorney after the judge ordered him to do so. If that was the case, then the judge should have found the sheriff in contempt also. As far as corporate criminals, I can surely understand your frustration.

A lawyer says a Roman Catholic monsignor has testified before a federal grand jury investigating how the Archdiocese of Los Angeles handled claims of priest abuse.
Attorney John Manly told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the former vicar for clergy Monsignor Richard Loomis testified before the grand jury Wednesday and was granted immunity.
A second lawyer familiar with the federal probe confirmed Manly’s account, but requested anonymity because grand jury proceedings are confidential.
Manly represents victims of clergy abuse. He says the monsignor’s civil attorney told him last week about the testimony because Loomis was scheduled to give a deposition in a lawsuit Manly filed.

“Safe ground” camper Carmen Bray is photographed outside her tent by a Sacramento police officer as more than a dozen other officer break down the camp and take the tents and sleeping bags into evidence. The 11 campers on the site when the police arrived were given tickets for illegal camping. Sacramento’s homeless campers are making their stand, this time with the support of some political heavy hitters. As city police officers rousted about 30 people from their “safe ground” campsite downtown on Wednesday, civil rights lawyers, religious leaders, businessmen and others were planning the next move. Attorney Mark Merin, who owns the vacant lot where the campers have been sleeping for the past 10 days, stood amid his scruffy clients in a dark suit and red tie and vowed to go to court next month to challenge a city ordinance that prevents people from camping in non-designated areas for more than 24 hours at a time.
